Hiline Coffee has the following key features:
With their perfect aim, Hiline Coffee provides the highest quality coffee for single-serve coffee makers so you can make your delicious cup of coffee for your morning brew.
Possibly, you may have access to high-end specialty cafes where you can get premium freshly brewed coffee, though most people do not have access, as not everyone can afford the expensive cafe. Or most people are lazy like me who prefer to make coffee at home with a grinder and manual coffee maker instead of going to the cafe. The mission of Highline Coffee is to deliver the freshest coffee beans and alternatives for Keurig and Nespresso pods to coffee lovers who prefer to make coffee at home rather than drinking coffee at coffee shops. As third-wave coffee changed the coffee environment, and now there are many third-wave coffee brands like Intelligentsia Coffee, Intelligentsia Coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee, Philz Coffee, Stumptown Coffee, La Colombe Coffee, Counter Culture Coffee, and more, Hiline Coffee is also one of those coffee brands who was inspired by the third-wave coffee.
With all their best services, Hiline Coffee roast the highest quality beans packs them into various single-serve packaging. It delivers them to coffee drinkers and brewers at home without going through retail distribution overall in the US. As a result, you may get the freshest coffee beans for your single-serve brewers at your doorstep. Hiline Coffee produces coffee pods and capsules for coffee makers and Nespresso compatible machines (like Mixpresso), k-cup pods for Keurig models, and Keurig compatible machines (like Instant Pod). The brand also produces ground coffee packs that you can use with your coffee makers, including French Press, AeroPress, Chemex, Moka Pot, Pourover, manual espresso machines, semi-automatic machines, super-automatic machines, and other coffee brewers.
Diversity is the spice of everybody’s life.
As coffee is my blood of life, the most important thing is that the Hiline coffee makes variety in my coffee. Highline Coffee is an excellent choice for those like me who want to taste and experience both worlds, a fresh-roasted specialty coffee by grinding whole beans of high-quality roasted coffee with Nespresso or Keurig coffee pods.
The Hiline coffee company is a boutique based in New York, NY.
Although HiLine Coffee hasn’t been in existence for very long, in their short time, they have established themselves in New York, NY, as one of the best alternatives to Nespresso pods and Keurig K-Cups.
The brand started as a small company, but this small Company made it highlighted throughout the coffee world in a short time.
The small Company started its story with pod-based alternatives offered to the significant single-serve manufacturers. Then the brand has expanded to offer whole bean and ground coffee, including specially-designed cold brew packs, which gave a satisfying taste to coffee lovers.
The Company has served millions of cups of great coffee and named its roasts after its favorite landmarks and neighborhoods. Hiline Coffee Company has won several awards, but in the end, it doesn’t matter; the only thing the brand cares about is whether you like it.
HiLine Coffee Company focuses on the highest quality high altitude, small lot arabica coffees from Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The brand sells only freshly roasted coffee beans, which they roast 6 hours right before shipping.
In one cold New York morning, if you may realize to your wife’s horror that you are out of Keurig K-Cups or Nespresso pods. What can you do without Nespresso pods if there is no Nespresso boutique nearby and you’re unwilling to leave your wife non-caffeinated?
You can cut off a used Nespresso pod or K-cup and fill it with freshly ground premium coffee beans from your favorite coffee roaster (Hiline coffee beans recommended), and then seal it with aluminum foil. You may have an extraordinary result because the Hiline coffee may provide you beautiful aromatic shot, possibly more delicious than the original Nespresso Vertuo or OriginalLine pods, or Keurig K-cups.

Hiline Coffee has the following pros and cons:
Being an artisan roaster, Hiline Coffee is remarkable for providing pod and capsule alternatives for Keurig and Nespresso coffee makers.
If you’re unfamiliar with Hiline Coffee and have never tried HiLine Coffee Company’s products yet, give them a chance. I can’t justify paying up for their Keurig-compatible pods. Still, their prices on whole bean coffees, ground coffees, and Nespresso-compatible capsules may fit your price range if you’re looking for an affordable and low-budget coffee.
Their Cold Brew-specific product could not satisfy my taste buds. Still, as for their regular Ol ‘coffee beans, they worked fine for my morning – but except all things, you may encourage everyone to support a small business like Hiline because they satisfy their customers with their high-quality coffee and dedication.
The story of their beginning is similar to other stories in the world of coffee; maybe it also relates to you.
Back in 2013, one cold New York morning, Gene Kakulin, co-founder of Hiline Coffee, and his wife reached for their favorite Nespresso capsules, but they were all out! There was no Nespresso boutique nearby, and Gene was unwilling to leave his wife uncaffeinated. Gene grabbed a used Nespresso capsule, cut the lid off, filled it with his own freshly ground premium coffee beans, sealed it with tin foil, and brewed it in his Nespresso coffee maker.
Gene and his wife got extraordinary results. The resulting espresso was more aromatic, beautiful, and delicious, even better than the Original Nespresso brand capsules he’d used to.
The morning that Gene considering fateful has converted, lucky for him.
And then, Gene had a light-bulb moment and vowed to start a business around providing fresh alternatives to the brand-name capsule manufacturers.
And then, he put his thinking into practice.
Soon in the same year, Gene started the coffee business and opened a coffee company called Hiline Coffee.
In its first year, the Company employed more than a dozen people. The Company has an annual revenue of about $2 million. Unsurprisingly, this is less than half of Keurig’s annual income in 2015. So we can legitimately call it a small business.
HiLine delivers coffee beans that they roast right before being shipped to you so you can have your freshest morning cup of joe.
And what about the Hiline alternatives to Keurig and Nespresso pods? Are they as fresh as Hiline roasted coffee?
My answer is yes!
It is because Highline Coffee has the distinction of being able to roast and cool the Keurig and Nespresso compatible pods, including whole coffee beans, before shipping to you.
They roast the whole coffee beans and let them cool for half an hour, then they grind them and again let them cool for half an hour just before filling them into Keurig and Nespresso alternatives. Then they are immediately shipped to you so you can enjoy the freshest Keurig and Nespresso alternatives.
Hiline Coffee has rapidly expanded over the last 5 years, and now they offer more products beyond pod coffees and capsules.
Currently, Hiline Coffee has positioned itself as one of the Keurig and Nespresso alternative pods market leaders.
In my opinion, HiLine Coffee is confident to continue its progress.
HiLine sources its coffees from small farms in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. All these farms are situated at high altitudes in top coffee-producing countries famous for producing the best coffee beans in the world that are more flavorful.
Higher altitudes mean lower temperatures, and this is considered ideal for growing coffee plants because they delay growth, according to Dr. Shawn Steinman, who holds his Ph.D. in Coffee Science. The cold temperature of higher altitude allows the bean to go through a long maturation process; thus, they can create a much richer, fuller, and clearer flavor for your cup of coffee.
Yes, it is.
Being grown at low altitudes and hotter temperatures, the coffee tends to take on an intense
flavor profile is often described as “earthy, muddy, grainy, or rubbery and dull. Robusta coffee is the best option to grow at low altitudes because it is better suited to more challenging conditions, such as higher temperatures and consequent potential fungal contamination. Because it is easy to grow, the Robust is the cheapest coffee bean in the market.
In the coffee market, small lot farms are just like mom-and-pop shops because they are small, family-owned, or independent farms.
Because these small lot farms usually do not have the resources of their major competitors, nor do they have organic certification, the big coffee brands exploit them and buy high-quality coffee at a low price from them. As a result, coffee growers are deprived of their rights and cannot get out of poverty.
Hiline Coffee supports these small farmers and buys high-quality coffee at a reasonable price from them. The Hiline also helps small farmers grow and care for coffee so that smallholders can grow high-quality coffee. Thus, the Hiline plays a vital role in the growth of the local economy. Hiline buys coffee mostly from farmers who are members of the Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance. If a farmer is not a member of Fair Trade or Rain Forest Alliance, then Hiline Coffee encourages him to become a Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance member. In this regard, the Hiline provides all kinds of assistance to tiny farmers.
Like the Nespresso users, Keurig users can also get the opportunity to take full advantage of Hiline capabilities. Just as Hiline offers alternative capsules for Nespresso Original machines, it also offers Keurig compatible capsules. Moreover, Hiline capsules work both Keurig 1.0 and Keurig 2.0 machines.
Standard Roasts
Like HiLine’s Nespresso-compatible pods, the Company offers fresher and higher-quality roasts for Keurig 2.0 and Keurig 1.0 coffee makers. It means whatever Keruig model you have, including K500, K400, K300, or K200 lines; you can use Hiline coffee pods with your Keurig machine; the Keurig machine will brew Hiline Coffee’s pods using its pod scanning technology.
As I told you in the story of the launch of Highline, the primary purpose of establishing the Company was to improve the quality and freshness of the pod coffee available in the market. So the Company has developed a variety of capsules compatible with Nespresso to meet the taste standards of all coffee drinkers.
As of this writing, the Company offers the following Nespresso capsules:
Note: These capsules are compatible with Nespresso Original Line machines only. If you own a Vertuo Line machine, the following capsules will not work for your machine. Suppose you want capsules compatible with Nespresso Vertuo Machine. In that case, you can find all the capsules in our article Nespresso Vertuo Compatible Pods that will work very well with your Vertuo Machine.

Want the best Nespresso capsule alternatives? Hiline is your get-to-go!
But they’re not alternatives for Nespresso VertuoLine pods because no brand can make Nespresso Vertuo pods except Starbucks; they are partnered with Nespresso. Below are some points that how can Hiline Nespresso compatible pods benefit you:
HiLine Coffee is so picky that they only choose partner farms that meet their high altitude, minor lot criteria; that is why their capsules tend to be less intense, more flavorful, and more complex. Moreover, they roast their beans immediately six hours before they are shipped, so they remain fresh up to reach your cup.
Compared to the two types of pods above, Hiline Coffee pods will be much more expensive for a Keurig machine user than a Nespresso machine user. The owner of a Nespresso machine will save $55 per year using Hiline Coffee pods, whereas the owner of a Keurig machine will spend an additional $146 per year using Hiline Coffee pods.
So if the owner of a Keurig machine has to make a loss of $146 per year, why would he buy Hiline Coffee pods for his Keurig machine? If he wants to buy such expensive high-line pods, he can buy a new Keurig machine every year for $146!
Yes, one thing makes sense to me, if you like the taste of Hiline Coffee pods for Keurig, you’re good to go because competition of choice can make the world worthless!
Hiline Coffee offers 12 types of flavored K-cups; you may prefer the medium roast as the coffee made from it is considered one of the best coffee in the world. If you want full-bodied and robust coffee, you may prefer a dark roast, but there is a risk of burning taste. You can also choose East Village for your K-cup machines!
If you’re one of those people who wants a single-origin, a small lot of roast, and wants to support a small company like Hiline, I don’t want to get in your way. You must support the Hiline if the extra cost does not affect your budget; otherwise, many famous brands are waiting for you right now!
Delivering fresh coffee to coffee lovers is the mission of Hiline Coffee.
So when it comes to ground coffee, Hiline Coffee does not neglect its mission. It also makes every effort to keep the ground beans fresh.
Coffee beans, if ground, lose their aroma and freshness within one to two days. The reason why coffee beans lose their aroma and freshness is that they are exposed to oxygen. The Hiline Coffee manages the coffee so that the coffee beans do not get exposed to oxygen. For this, they pack the ground beans in one-way valve bags. Although the cost of this packing is high, they protect the beans from bad taste.
The downside is that these plastic coffee bags are not environmentally friendly.
By the way, you will only use Nespresso or Keurig branded or compatible pods for Keurig and Nespresso machines. Still, if you are accustomed to using Keurig or Nespresso reusable pods, then these Hiline ground coffees might be your best choice for filling reusable pods:
Just as the requirements of Hiline Coffee to make alternatives to Keurig and Nespresso are rigorous – a small lot, high altitude – so are the requirements for whole coffee beans. That’s why my vote is always with Hiline Coffee because they provide the best quality at the lowest price.
Their whole bean coffee comes from El Salvador and New Guinea, as these coffee-producing areas meet the requirements of Hiline Coffee.
All Hiline Coffee roasts, including Union Square Dark Roast, are very smooth – they are smooth because all the coffees in the areas where these coffees are grown are smooth.
Hiline Coffee offers the following whole coffee beans:
The first roast sells for around $18 per pound, and the last two sell for $16.
HiLine offers only one cold brew product.
Gramercy Park: This coffee is smooth, naturally sweet, and designed to brew in cold water.
Here’s the cold brew recipe we’ve got from their website:
Drop 2 pitcher packs into a 48 fl oz (larger) pitcher. Add 32 fl oz of cold, filtered water to the pitcher. Steep coffee in the fridge for 24 hours. Gently remove the pitcher packs and add 10-16 fl oz cold, filtered water to taste.
Like their ground coffee, HiLine cold brew coffee comes individually packed.
Here’re the accessories that HiLine coffee offers:

You can find all delicious recipes on Hiline Coffee’s website, here’re some of them:
The biggest reason for the popularity of HiLine Coffee is the freshness of their coffee because that is their mission. And the primary purpose of creating the Company was to deliver pods to Nespresso and Keurig customers to enjoy fresh coffee through their single-serving machine. Although HiLine Coffee now sells whole coffee beans, ground beans, and cold brew products, they are best known for selling Nespresso compatible pods and Keurig compatible cups.
Their beans are sourced from some of the best coffee-growing regions globally, with small lot farms located at high altitudes. They care so much about the freshness of their coffee that they pack the ground coffee in one-way valve bags, so they don’t have to deal with oxygen.
You can save up to 0.15 per capsule and $ 55 per year by purchasing their Nespresso compatible capsules.
But you can’t save on their Keurig compatible pods, as they are more expensive than Keurig’s own licensed K-Cup pods and many other third-party manufacturers.
But when it comes to quality and freshness, their K-Cup pods are also made from high-quality beans and are fresh.
