The selection dial has triple functions. First, rotate the dial to choose your desired brew volume, and then press this button to start brewing. Furthermore, factory reset settings can be performed by using this button.
When the brewing process is complete, there is a specific opening labeled as an Espresso spout, an aperture from where the coffee will come out, and your cup will be filled with it.

First of all, place your cup on the cup holder.
Now, lift the handle to uplift the lid of the capsule compartment to its fully upright position.
Note: There are chances that hot vapors can cause injury to your hands. To avoid such a situation, only open the capsule door by lifting the handle for 3 seconds after the brewing cycle has completed. Don’t pull the capsule door with your fingers.
Select the capsule according to your choice, hold it with the foil cap facing you, and drop it into its loading compartment on top of the machine.
Lower the handle to close the capsule compartment. Make sure the knob/handle is rotated in a horizontal position. Complete closure of the container is needed to start the machine.
Turn the selection dial according to your desired volume. The settings from left to right are:
1: 25 ml / 0.84 oz (ristretto)
2: 40 ml / 1.35 oz(espresso)
3: 60 ml / 2.0 oz
4: 90 ml / 3.04 oz
5: 110 ml / 3.71 oz(lungo)
6: 130 ml / 4.4 oz
Now, press the brew button to start the operation and press the button for a second time if you want to top off your cup or if you want to stop the cycle early.
You can change the selection mid-brew by rotating the dial to a new selection before brewing ends.
After completing the process, lift the handle upright to discard the capsule into the disposal container.
Note: Discard the capsule after brewing the coffee or turning off the machine. The used capsule compartment can hold up to 14 used capsules.
When you do not press the brew button after the machine is powered on, the device automatically goes to standby mode after 9 minutes. First, it turns to a low-consumption mode, and the heater powers off. Press the brew button or rotate the selection dial to wake the machine. If you prefer to change this standby time, you can set it for 15 minutes, 20 minutes, or 30 minutes following these directions:
When you power on the machine, the LED will flash, which indicates that the device is warming up, and when the machine is ready to process, the LED will glow continuously.
Rotate the selection dial to change the position of the light to the leftmost position and hold the button for 6 seconds. The light will hold steady before switching to 2 blinks per second. Your Nespresso machine is now ready for the resetting of standby time.
Turn the selection dial to the leftmost position to reset the standby time to 15 minutes, turn to the second left position to reset the standby time to 20 minutes, and turn to the third left position to reset the standby time to 30 minutes.
Press the brew button again now; the LED will blink 3 times to confirm that you have exited the programming mode.
Note: To return to the factory settings of 9 minutes, you have to change settings, reset the device by rotating the selection dial to the leftmost position, and press the button for 6 seconds (The LED will flash two blinks per second). Now, turn the dial to the rightmost position and press the brew button. The machine will go to factory settings and is in ready mode.
After using the machine, it is vital to clean it because the coffee oil sediments can accumulate inside your device, and the machine’s operation will be affected. Then you shall be unable to have the coffee according to your desired taste. As you have some requirements for your coffee, the machine also demands some conditions for adequately working. Note: Avoid using harsh dishwasher cleaners, steel wool or any hard material for cleaning Nespresso KitchenAid.
Turn the dial towards the right and hold for 6 seconds to turn off your Nespresso machine, then unplug the device from the main socket. Let the appliance cool down!
Please remove the maintenance unit from the base by pulling it towards you.
Remove the capsule from the compartment and dispose of them. Also, remove the drip grid from the drip tray.

At last, wash the water tank with hot soapy water and then with clean water. Dry the tank with a soft cloth. The water tank cannot be washed in the dishwasher.
You have used your machine many times. Now you have to go somewhere and store your device for some time so your appliance stays safe. But, before storing, you do have to empty your device. The emptying procedure is carried out through the following method:
Remove the water tank from the machine. Empty water from the tank and place it again in its position. Make sure of the complete closure of the capsule compartment by lowering the handle to the horizontal position.
Place an empty container right below the coffee outlet.
Enter the “emptying mode” by turning the brew button to the leftmost position and holding it for 6 seconds until the light blinks.
Turn the selection dial to the right till the blinking light is above the right middle position.
Press the brew button, and the emptying cycle will run until the system is empty.
Note: When emptying the machine, let it cool down for 10 minutes before further use.
Since water is an essential ingredient in your coffee, the content of the metal ions present in water can be destructive for your machine. Water contains heavy metal ions like calcium, so there are higher chances that these metals can be deposited inside your device and harm it. Frequent descaling is required if you use hard water (high concentration. of Calcium & Magnesium ions) in your brewer. For this purpose, use Nespresso descaling agent, available online, to remove scales. I discourage using homemade remedies for descaling, like chemical or vinegar solutions. Because instead of descaling, these can cause more detrimental effects to your Nespresso KitchenAid. First, buy the descaling agents and perform descaling as I have explained below :
First, add two packets of descaling agent to the empty water tank. Then fill the tank with water to the maximum limit. Replace the water tank on your machine.
Place an empty container ( minimum capacity up to 1.5L ) under the coffee outlet.
Turn the brew button to the leftmost position and hold for 6 seconds until the light blinks.
Now, rotate the selection dial till the blinking light is above the first right position.
Press the brew button to run the descaling operation and let it continue until the water tank is emptied completely.
Add water to the water tank for the second time and repeat the cycle to rinse the machine with clean water. The device will automatically shift to ready mode after the process is completed.
When your machine is working correctly, you are enjoying your coffee. But sometimes, the device can cause some errors, which can be a source of displeasure for you. Such trivial problems can be solved on a self-basis by acting upon my advice. Although if the problem still exists, avoid using more tricks and contact the company immediately.
Note: If the capsule compartment is not cleared, the brewing water will be able to flow into the capsule compartment and then to the maintenance unit for confirmation to lift the drip grid and observe if unbrewed water is present.
If the coffee grounds are observed in a cup, there is a probability that the door was opened too soon. Every time you brew your coffee, wait for at least 3 seconds after the brewing cycle is completed before opening the door.
The above situation indicates that the machine is overheated. The lights will flash until the Espresso Machine is ready or enters standby mode.
It means that there is an electronic error. Allow the machine to go into standby mode and recheck for the mistake again. If the error is still present, consult the “warranty and section service.
