Nespresso coffee capsules offer a wide selection of coffee flavors, including espresso, single-origin blends, blends of several origins, and much more. Today, our content is about the Nespresso Toccanto capsule. I brewed coffee with this sumptuous Vertuo pod, and here is our honest review.
Toccanto is a blend of soft fruity Brazilian and wild Nicaraguan Arabica beans. These beans undergo a special fermentation process and give a wild fruity aroma to your coffee and exotic ripe fruity notes to your palate. These exotic fruity notes are reminiscent of pineapple and balance the body and acidity of your coffee cup.
Derived from the Latin word toccante, the Toccanto capsule moved me when I tasted it, as its name implies. I later found out that Toccanto also means ready to roll.
I bought Toccanto from Amazon as it is a best seller and reliable brand. When I saw my Toccanto capsules, they were neat pods with hot pink or purple colors. It was a VertuoLine pod, so I brewed it with my Vertuo Next machine. It smelled good. I got a robust fruity aroma. When I took a sip, the initial flavor was candied and winey. I also felt mild acidity, but the winey notes were dominant. I also got a bit of a spicy aroma and flowery and citrusy taste. I felt like a complex light, and the dark split roast of all the various coffee origins shine in my single cup.
I frothed the milk and added it to the brewed Toccanto coffee. When I tasted it, the vanilla notes danced on my palate. The floral notes faded, and a lot of citruses came through it. I found Toccanto unique, and the overall flavor, aroma, and drink quality were beyond anything.
I focused on 10 major features of Toccanto; these features differentiate it from all other Nespresso coffee pods. These features showed me how Nicaraguan-originated Toccanto differs from Rwandan-originated Vertuo coffee pods. The texture, body, and drink quality helped me understand whether it is suitable for morning or evening cups and whether I drink it in summer or winter. Let’s have a complete insight into these features.
The Toccanto is a blend of Brazilian and Nicaraguan Arabica beans. These beans undergo a unique fermentation process; the Brazilian Arabica blend beautifully balances acidity and body and preserves fruitiness, while special Nicaraguan Arabica adds a lot of fruitiness perceived in this blend.
Roast level affects coffee acidity. The dark roast adds candy flavor, which indicates that sugar is caramelized, while the light roast gives a juicy or tart flavor. The unique thing about Toccanto is that it undergoes a very complex split roast; one Arabica bean undergoes a light roast, and the other beans undergo a dark roast. So, when I tasted the Toccanto coffee, the very complex split roast (one dark and one light) gave an aromatic cup with candied, juicy, fruity flavor and a hint of toasted bread.
When I brew coffee with Nespresso Toccanto, it smells good, and its aromatic profile fills the room. Its aroma soothed our nose and indicated fine South and Central American coffee origins. The juicy and fruity aroma is reminiscent of pineapple outlined with a hint of bready notes, and the candied and winey fruit notes hit our palates.
When you brew coffee, every sip helps you to detect the type of sweetness it possesses. It may have honey, fresh fruit, molasses, or dark caramel-like sweetness. The drink’s flavor helps you differentiate between brown and white sugar, maple and honey syrup, etc. In Toccanto, the barrel of fine South and Central American coffee beans (one light and one dark bean roasting) adds a lot of fruitiness, perceived in the drink. When I brewed Toccanto coffee and took a sip, the candied fruit flavor and ripe fruity notes hit my palate. Its sweetness swung my mood and reminded me of pineapple, blueberry, and caramelized sugars.
The body is the weight of coffee you feel on your tongue. Your drink may be light (like low-fat milk) or heavy (like whole milk or whipped cream). Toccanto is a Vertuo pod and brewed with a Nespresso VertuoLine machine. Unlike OriginalLine models, VertuoLine machines deliver lightweight drinks, so, Toccanto coffee will feel like a light skim milk on your tongue. When I took sip after sip of Toccanto coffee, I felt it silky soft on my tongue, and honey-like sweetness hit my palate. I drank the whole cup and didn’t feel it heavy at all.
Acidity is one of the prized and misunderstood attributes. Acidity ads dimensions and brightness to your coffee. Your coffee either has mild tartness like tang or more tartness like lemon. The Arabica blend beautifully balances the acidity and body of the wildly aromatic Toccanto coffee. The Toccanto gives me a juicy coffee whose Latin American Arabicas bring candied and winey fruit notes and add mild tang-like acidity.
Nespresso coffee pods always fulfill your caffeine needs. Most Nespresso capsules contain about 80 mg of caffeine and is enough for one standard coffee cup. Toccanto is an espresso Vertuo capsule with low ground coffee and caffeine content. When I measured it in our lab, I found 50-60 mg caffeine content.
Authentic coffee capsules deliver complex flavors, allowing you to feel it sip after sip. The Nespresso Toccanto coffee offers complex flavors. When I took the first sip, it gave exotic funky notes reminiscent of pineapple outlined with a hint of toasted bread notes, while another sip gave winey, blueberry, and candied fruit flavors. I felt that several origins shine in my single cup, and my cup is a bouquet of various coffee flavors. This capsule urged me to demand sip after sip and cup after cup.
Bitterness and acidity determine the intensity of the coffee. The more bitter or acidic it is, the more intense the drink is. Toccanto has high intensity and delivers a juicy coffee whose Latin American Arabicas bring candied and winey fruit notes to your palate.
If you have a fantastic morning coffee cup, its taste will remind you of it all day. Toccanto delivered such a type of juicy coffee. No doubt, the wildly aromatic Toccanto coffee was smooth and lingering. When I finished it, I felt slightly bitterness, but it changed into sweetness after a few seconds. Its taste and aromatic profile are preserved in my mind, and whenever I think about it, I want to make and drink an aromatic cup of Toccanto coffee.
Toccanto Vertuo pod is only compatible with VertuoLine models. VertuoLine machines offer six brew sizes.
Toccanto is an espresso pod and delivers a delicate cup of 1.35 oz espresso shot. I also tried to brew other cup sizes with it, but I got only a watery drink. So, it is better to brew only espresso with Toccanto.
Our research found that the pod coffee system is affordable compared to the expensive and time-consuming regular visits to coffee shops. Although you cannot guess how much money you can save by brewing at home. Let’s suppose a person spends $4 at a local coffee shop, but if they buy Keurig or Nespresso coffee capsules, how much money he will save is shown in the table below.
