We’ve tested, reviewed, and rated all 116 capsules to give you an overall ranking of the best Nespresso capsules.
But, as is usually the case, what’s best for me may not be best for you. Let’s expand upon the Top Picks above and highlight a few more of the best Nespresso pods by category:
Nespresso collects high-quality single-origin blends of coffee beans from the world’s top coffee bean-producing areas and encapsulates them in capsules using high-packaging technology to retain their freshness for a long time for coffee drinkers.
Nespresso produces two types of coffee capsules: original line capsules and vertebral line capsules.
Just as Nespresso produces two types of lines in capsules, Nespresso also offers two types of lines in its espresso machines: the original line machines and the vertical line machines.
Nespresso’s Original Line machines only accept Original Line capsules, while Nespresso’s Vertuoline machines only accept Vertuoline capsules.
Nespresso also manufactures original line capsules for its OriginalLine machines while third-party capsules for the OriginalLine machines are not made by Nespresso but by another brand. These third-party capsules are two or three times cheaper than Nespresso’s brand capsules.
Nespresso also makes its capsules for its Vertuoline machines. There are no third-party capsules available for Vertuoline machines except Starbucks. Since Nespresso partnered with Starbucks, Starbucks has been producing pods for Nespresso Vertuoline machines.

The Nespresso Vertuo line has a variety of espresso pods available. Double espresso and single-pod varieties are both great for different types of drinks. These Nespresso pods have Dark smoky characters.
Double Espresso Scuro is a dark roast pod made from Robusta and Arabica beans from Central America and famous for its very dark smoky characters. On the other hand, Double Espresso Chiaro is a medium roast made from Central and South American Arabica beans and famous woody and earth notes.
