Nespresso Original line machine seekers rejoice!
It is the best Nespresso machine comparison guide out there.
Seriously.
I have spent the last five years testing kitchen appliances and Keurig coffee makers, including French press, drip coffee makers, single-cup brewers, and coffee accessories like travel mugs, coffee grinders, and coffee pod holders. I did the legwork to compare 5 Nespresso Vertuo machines and 21 Nespresso Original models — old like Creatista Uno and new like Vertuo Next — small like Pixie or Essenza Mini and large like Lattissima Pro —- affordable like Inissia and expensive like Creatista Plus — and 2 Nespresso compatible Original machines like Mixpresso and Instant Pod — so you can easily find the right one for you.
This guide is broken into seven sections:
Are you ready?
Let’s dive in.
The Bottom Line
Unlike its stupid cousins— the Nespresso Essenza Mini, CitiZ, and Pixie— Essenza Plus offers a delicious espresso, a Lungo, an Americano, Americano XL, or even tea. With a handy one-touch capsule ordering button right on the machine, a larger 34 oz reservoir, and an Aeroccino3 milk frother the machine has a slick, streamlined design and it is compact, lightweight, and portable. The machine is slightly less durable due to its plastic body but it makes it lighter than its cousin the aluminum Pixie.

The Bottom Line
Notable for its large 44 oz water reservoir that can be moved around to accommodate any size counter space and 16 oz milk container, the ability to make lattes and cappuccinos at the touch of a button, the Lattissima Pro is the top-end Lattissima models and best for Nespresso brand and third-party capsules. It has an integrated frother and 6 preset recipes on an interactive touchscreen display to make anyone a home barista. Unfortunately, the bulky machine has an eye-watering price tag.

You can brew a wonderful shot of Espresso in a matter of seconds without the added mess of getting ground coffee everywhere. You also have the option of receiving frothed milk into your cup as well. Moreover, you can also buy third-party capsules anywhere else despite Nespresso.

Our favorite bang-for-your-buck Nespresso Pixie, this Nespresso machine offers a 24 oz water tank, 19 bars pressure for hot water, 10 spent Nespresso capsule container, 4.4 “W x 9.3” D x 12.8 “H dimensions, 6.6 lbs weight, and auto-off after 9 minutes.
When we compare Nespresso models for our money, the Nespresso Pixie is a touch more feature-rich than the uber-compact Essenza Mini, with a pair of upgrades that have made it one of the best-selling Nespresso espresso machines.
This machine does not have milk frothers, so if you want to make special drinks (such as cappuccino and latte), you can buy them separately for your home barista setup. It doesn’t have many of the extra features you’ll find on more expensive espresso machines. So if you are looking for a similar compact machine with more features and advanced functionality, Nespresso Essenza Plus may be your best choice.

A bit larger than the Essenza Mini, the Nespresso Essenza Plus is a powerful espresso maker that offers the user 34 ounces of water tank for their elixir. It also has six spent Nespresso capsules to use, 19 bars pressure, and 4.7 “W x 15.6” D x 10.0 “H dimensions a hair wider than the Essenza Mini. This particular machine weighs 7 pounds! If you want something small but still satisfying, make sure not to miss out on this one because it’s auto-off after 9 minutes, so there are no worries about running dry or forgetting it turned off when leaving home.
The Nespresso Essenza Plus is one of the best Nespresso machines for our money because it is the original line and has no barcode scanning system, unlike the Nespresso Vertuo line. It means you can get less expensive third-party capsules that contain more ground coffee than standard Nespresso pods, so if you like a bigger hit, Essenza Plus is the real espresso machine to go for.

It is a base Nespresso maker of Nespresso’s 5 Lattissima machines, and the Lattissima One offers hassle-free, one-touch specialty beverages with a 4 oz milk container in a compact, affordable package. This Nespresso machine offers a 34 oz water tank, 19 bars pressure for hot water, 8 spent reusable capsules, 6.1 “W x 12.8” D x 10.1 “H dimensions, 9.3 lbs weight, programmable water hardness, and auto-off after 9 minutes.
The greatest benefit of opting for this espresso maker is that other Nespresso machines use the Vertuo Nespresso pods, and Lattissima One uses Original Nespresso capsules. It means you can use third-party capsules that are compatible with Nespresso coffee makers. Probably you are looking to recreate your desired drink at home by using latte art with an espresso machine, and you’ll be happy to know that this espresso maker can achieve this.
You’ll receive complimentary Nespresso pods with this Lattissima coffee and espresso maker. Compared to the previous espresso machine, it has only two brew settings for Espresso; Lungo and Espresso. Last but not least, this home espresso machine we highly recommend considering this device which is built beautifully out of all Nespresso machines.

Over the years, Nespresso machines have revolutionized the way people think about and make coffee. Swiss engineer Eric Favre first conceptualized them after his inspirational trip to Rome in 1975 while working for Nestlé back then where he developed a prototype that would soon become one of Italy’s best-loved brand names: espresso makers with versatility; ease-of-use; easy cleaning feature all packed into one package which can be filled up by yourself using individual capsules but not coffee grounds, sorry you can’t brew regular coffee with fresh coffee beans!
Nespresso machines work with hermetically sealed capsules; these capsules are inserted into the coffee maker. The device pierces the top or bottom of the Nespresso pod (depending on the pod’s model). The machine activates once the pod is pierced. The Nespresso machine pumps highly pressured water through the capsules’ holes and releases the brewed espresso shot into your cup.
Cleaning a Nespresso machine is not difficult and should happen on two levels. You can keep your coffee maker clean by wiping down its surface, but be sure to descale it every three months for optimal performance! Limescale buildup will accumulate anywhere in the machine if you do not regularly take care of these tasks- so don’t wait too long before cleaning up after yourself or risk having hard water stains ruin all future drinks.
There is no need to worry about breaking out into a sweat while trying this at home; simply follow my simple steps –
Step 1: Rinse and clean the water tank.
Step 2: Clean out capsule container with a paper towel or invert over the tray so that residue will fall through to be collected below (you can also use an old pillowcase). The drip tray should then be emptied as well for a thorough cleaning before placing all three back onto the machine; do not reuse any of these towels! For best results, close the lid while it is open during this step- then turn on the fan again when done heating up—this helps remove built-up dirt from the inside ventilation system too. Once you get your Nespresso machine, set it up following the instructions in its package. These might change depending on what model and could include making a few coffees to discard as well!
Once the machine is ready, you can finally make a coffee. For this, your first step should be filling up the water tank and turning on Nespresso’s power button so that it starts heating up all of its hot little bits inside!
In the meantime, pick your cup for Espresso or regular coffee and select a capsule to insert once it’s ready; press that button! You’ll be able to create as many servings as needed with this single-serve machine which can easily fit into any kitchen or office space thanks to its small footprint- perfect for those who love convenience at work. Nespresso vs. Keurig is an important topic to read when you have to choose one of the two famous brands. Nespresso machines, being operated by Nestle, whereas Keurig coffee makers belong to Keurig. Nespresso machines brew coffee, but they focus on putting out a shot of Espresso. Keurig does also have a line of espresso makers, but they focus on putting out hot coffee. Nespresso pods and k cups both have different tastes and machine lines to brew coffee. Like Nespresso third-party capsules, Keurig also partners with other suppliers to produce their capsules.
