Here is your cold brew coffee: The ratio I will tell you is a general one that will work for a range of coffee beans, from Tanzania Peaberry Coffee, Hawaiian Kona Coffee, Nicaraguan Coffee, and other top tasty coffee beans. And it’ll also work for different roasts such as light, medium, and dark roast.
However, you have tremendous “leeway to dilute the concentrate to taste once it’s ready. You can use a kitchen scale for measuring the beans, but a kitchen cup will come in handy when brewing a cold coffee.
Coffee to water ratio is the main question. Before we talk more, you always keep in mind, the more significant number in the ratio is water. I’ve explained it because somebody will say 18:1 or 1:18 without clarifying which is which. However, this should clear up your confusion.
You can start with a single ratio of 1: 2, 1: 5, 1: 8. The only difference is that 1: 2 will produce over-strong coffee and 1: 5 will make a slightly stronger cold brew, and 1: 8 will produce medium cold brew coffee. However, whatever coffee is ready, you have to dilute it to your taste preferences by mixing it with water or ice.

Step 1: Buy single-origin whole coffee beans to avoid the blends.

Step 2: Combine your coffee grounds with 5 cups of filtered water in a container.

Step 4: Strain your extracted coffee water with a small strainer lined with a flour sack cloth or cheesecloth.
