Hello Coffee Aficionados!
Who doesn’t like coffee? I think no one! But there is a difference here. Some like a large cup, and some like a small cup. This means that the preferences of coffee lovers change with time. So, Nespresso has simplified the problem by featuring water volume in Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine.
As you know Nespresso CitiZ and Milk offer two volume buttons, one for Espresso and the other for Lungo. Sometimes you want to make a Ristretto and sometimes you want to drink an Americano. So you can sacrifice one of the buttons and set the volume for your desired drink. Programming the volume of water on the Nespresso CitiZ and milk is not that difficult. Stay with us if you want to do that.

Nespresso CitiZ offers you two size drinks Espresso or Lungo by default or factory setting. You can program the water volume to your wish but you have to sacrifice a button. Let’s go ahead and see the whole process.
This guide will give you more information on programming the water volume on the Nespresso CitiZ & Milk machine. Be sure to read it thoroughly with full attention.
There could be several reasons if your machine is making a small cup of coffee:
The button on the right is the Lungo button. It has a coffee volume of 110 ml (3.72 oz). Besides this, you can turn On the machine with the Lungo button. It also helps to reset the cup size.
Nespresso CitiZ and Milk has two ways to detect what size of coffee you want to make:
Espresso is a 40 ml drink while Lungo is a 110 ml coffee. Espresso is more robust and highly intense as compared to Lungo. Lungo is less concentrated than Espresso due to the high content of water. The coffee to water ratio in Espresso is 1:2 whereas in Lungo it is 1:4. Espresso pulled for 25-30 sec and Lungo takes approximately 60 sec to pull.
You can set up your machine after unboxing:

If you use your Nespresso machine on a regular basis, then you must have to descale it after 3 months or after brewing 300 cups of coffee. If you don’t descale your machine a mineral scale build-up will clog your machine and you will not be able to enjoy coffee any more.
If you run Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine with just water, it will be called a cleaning cycle, not descaling. Descaling is a process of adding a chemical solution in water and then cleaning the inside from mineral build-up.
A normal serving of Lungo measures from 130 ml (4.4 Oz) to 170 ml (5.74 Oz) but when you make Lungo from Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine it will serve its standard, fixed-size 110 ml (3.72).
It is better to rinse the machine three times. In the descaling solution, high chemical content is used to remove dirt and limescale, so it can add to your coffee if you don’t run the water rinsing cycle a couple of times.
You can descale your Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine naturally by using vinegar, lemon, or soda. The most common natural descaling solution is: one part of vinegar and two parts of water.
In this guide, I have explained in detail “how you can program the volume of water” in the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine. Now you can enjoy different quantities of drinks as per your desire.
