How to Repair A Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Machine?

It’s an annoying situation when the coffee machine is pouring water from not one but two places. It actually happens due to our negligence when we do not maintain its cleanliness properly. When this problem occurred in my Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine, I was very worried, then I solved this problem with the following method.

Problem

Water is flowing inside of the machine (capsule compartment).

Cause

This is happening due to two reasons.

The part where the capsule is punctured is really very dirty. Due to gunk water is coming out from the front side of the capsule compartment.
There is an O-ring Inside the brewing mechanism. It has a slight edge and may not seal well.

Solution

So, for repairing, you have to remove the Aeroccino, disassemble other parts of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk such as the capsule container and water tank then solve the problem. Make sure your Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine is cool before starting the process.

First of all, disconnect the power cable from the mains.
Turn your machine to 180 degrees.
In order to detach the entire base you need to remove the 9 oval shaped screws that are present here. Without removing screws from the base you can not remove the side parts.
When all the screws are coming out now you can remove the unit a little bit from the base. The side covers are a little bit inside the base so you need a screwdriver that can perfectly and easily remove these screws.
You can also use a pry tool to pry the side covers out. When you successfully remove the side covers you can get access to the brewing part.
There are 4 clips, two on the right and two on the left side. Gently uplift these clips.
Insert some prying tools to take out the nozzle.
The nozzle will come out. If the nozzle is fairly clean that is a good sign otherwise you will have to clean it.
Remove the frame carefully so that the internal system of the machine will not damage, now you have access to the brewing mechanism.
Still you have the connector here, you need a t10 torx to loosen the two small screws to remove the retainer.
You can buy the entire brewing mechanism if you want to, but here you will try to fix the issue.
In the second part, when you open the brewing mechanism there is an O-ring, check if it’s damaged or okay because the damaged O-ring is the reason for leaking water.
Now you will see there is coffee residue inside the brewing mechanism.
Here you will see a part that punctures the capsule, you will also observe there is a space between the plate and the nozzle. It is a place where coffee is clogged.
In order to clean it you have to remove the plate.
Now you will see there are a lot of micro pinch holes, they get clogged with coffee grounds. Clean each hole here with the help of a thin needle and a brush.
When you clean it thoroughly, insert the plate back to its place.
After the problem is solved. Reassemble all the parts.
First of all, connect the brewing mechanism.
Reposition the nozzle.
Put back just two screws to test the machine without fully assembling.
Let’s connect the power cord to the main switch.
Insert the water tank back and pour some fresh potable water to clean the machine.
Place a bowl under the nozzle or you can also put an Aeroccino jug to collect the water.
Let’s run the machine.
If the water is flowing from the nozzle and not from anywhere else, it is pretty enough.

You have successfully solved the problem without changing the brewer mechanism. You can now reassemble the entire unit.

How to Replace Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Parts? A Step By Step Guide

Just like other manufacturers, Nespresso does not offer a lifetime warranty of its products or parts. After a period of time or due to some other reasons you have to repair or replace the parts of your Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Button Replacement

Nespresso CitiZ and Milk have two buttons. On the left is Espresso which serves 40 ml or 1.35 Oz of coffee and on the right is Lungo which serves 110 ml or 3.72 Oz of coffee. When these buttons get damaged and need to be replaced. The replacement of buttons is a bit of a technical task but proper guidance will make it easy.

Instructions

Plug out the cord and let the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine cool down.
Take out all the removable parts.
Rotate the machine towards your side and unscrew all the screws.
Separate the lower body from the upper body with a slight jerk.
With the help of a pry tool, remove the side parts of the machine.
Now on the brewing mechanism part, you will see 4 clips (2 on both sides).
Gently unclip all the clips or hooks with the help of spudger.
As the wires are attached to the command console, so carefully take it out ( Lungo and Espresso buttons are present here).
Now in the inner side of the command cover, you will see buttons, a rubber cover and a PCB (printed circuit board).
Clean the PCB with isopropyl alcohol.
Remove the rubber cover from the PCB and put it away.
Place a new rubber cover on the printed circuit board.

The Nespresso CitiZ and Milk button has been replaced.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Drip Tray Replacement

The Nespresso CitiZ and Milk Drip Tray collects water from the coffee nozzle while you brew coffee. All runoff is collected in the drip tray and your countertop remains free of mess. But if it leaks or breaks, you may face a problem like water spillage around you. So you need to replace it with a new one.

Replacement:

Remove your old drip tray from Nespresso CitiZ and Milk and replace with a new one.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Gasket Replacement

A ring-shaped gasket is made of silicon. It is a closed-cell elastomer that helps to fit and seal the water tank nozzle to the base of the machine. It breaks down due to heat and pressure. Its loss causes leakage from the slide.

Replacement Instructions:

Turn Off the machine and let it cool down.
Rotate your machine.
Open all the screws from the base.
Separate the upper and lower part of the machine with the help of a prying tool.
Now you will see two water hoses are attached to the water tank.
There will be a gasket in the water tank connector. Take out the old gasket and place a new one.
Put everything back together.
Your Nespresso CitiZ and Milk gasket has been replaced.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Cord Replacement

A power card is an essential part of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine as it is the only source of connection between the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine and the electrical mains. If your cord is peeled off or got damaged, you should immediately disconnect it and attach a suitable cord to deliver the current. See how to replace the cord.

Replacement Instructions:

First off all remove all the parts such as capsule container, drip tray, drip base, water tank and aeroccino as well.
Pick a torx T8 screwdriver and remove all the screws present on both sides.
The bottom panel is quite firmly seated, use some force to pry it out.
Insert a metal spudger between the panel and the body and pull the panel out.
Unclip the white plastic of the power cable with a flat screwdriver.
Take out the power cable from inside.
Grab both pins of the power cable and unplug them to disconnect.
Your Nespresso CitiZ and Milk old wire has been removed now, you can connect a new one.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Water Tank Replacement

The water tank of Nespresso CitiZ and Milk has a capacity of 1 liter or 33.8 Oz of water. It goes attached and detaches easily. If it breaks, you can easily buy a new one and place it in the back of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine.

Nespresso CitiZ And Milk Brewing Unit Replacement

The brewing unit is also one of the main parts of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine. The brewing unit consists of a drip nozzle, a lever and a capsule box. The process of puncturing the coffee pod is done here. Coffee residues are also collected here. If it gets damaged, you can replace it, but it’s a little technical work. Lets see how to do it:

Replacement Instructions:

Turn off the machine and make sure it is cool before starting the process.
Remove all detachable parts from the machine.
Flip Nespresso CitiZ and Milk to 180 degrees.
Remove the screws that are securing the large bottom panel.
The bottom panel is a little hard to remove, use a spudger to separate it from the top.
Remove both the side panels with the help of a pry tool.
After removing the side panels,you will see the plastic cover of the brewing unit is protected with two clips on each side.
Use a metal spatula or pry tool to unclip all the 4 clips, also remove the nozzle with the help of this tool.
Open the lever.
Detach the top frame of the Nespresso CitiZ and milk machine.
Now you will see 4 screws again, 2 on both sides. Unscrew all of them.
Now the brewing unit will come outside easily.
To separate the water pipe from the brewing unit, use tweezers to remove the retainer and loosen the water pipe connection.
Insert the new brewing unit.
Carefully connect the water pipe to the new brewing unit.
Reattach the brewing unit to the machine and screw it tightly.
Now reattach the top cover and the side panels.
Insert the screw back.

Instructions

Disconnect the coffee brewer from the mains and let it cool down (if hot).
Separate all the removable parts of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine such as water tank, drip grid, drip tray, capsule container and Aeroccino.
Remove the screws to separate the bottom of the machine from the top.
Push the bottom of the Nespresso CitiZ and Milk machine a little, it will then come apart and you will have access to the sides.
Use a pry tool to insert into the side parts of the machine with little force. Remove one side of the machine and do the same with the other side.
Gently unlock the two hooks present at the left and right side.
Remove the upper command console as well as the entire brewing system.
There will be 4 screws on the brewing mechanism part (2 at the left and 2 at the right side). Unscrew all of them.
Let’s remove the front piece of the machine through unlocking both sides of the clip.
Insert the screwdriver in the brewing mechanism to remove the gunk.
Be careful when removing the O-ring, don’t rip the brewing chamber completely.
Clean the o-ring and re-assemble it again. If it is broken, change it.
Insert the screwdriver to remove the diffuser plate.
Use the small needle to puncture the holes and remove the dirt.
Place and push it inside. You’ll hear a click, which means it’s back in place.
Let’s fit back the screws.
Spray isopropyl alcohol to clean the body of the machine. (It will not damage electronics)
