Be with me, and let’s rebuild the Nespresso Essenza Plus, free of any problems, together.

Related: How to use Nespresso Essenza Plus.

Problem 1: Nespresso Essenza Plus Pairing Has Not Succeeded.

Using Nespresso Essenza Plus is very charming, and you can get the most out of it by pairing it with wifi or Bluetooth. But unfortunately, sometimes pairing fails. As a result, you will not be able to control your brewer through mobile. Ugh! What can you do to resolve it? What are the causes of this issue that I should consider? How can I pair my Nespresso Essenza Plus? Here are the answers to all your queries. So, let’s get started!

Cause 1: Bluetooth Is Off

Bluetooth may be turned off on your mobile phone.

Solution: Turn It On

Turn on the Bluetooth either from the manual setting on your mobile phone or from the general setting(app).

Cause 2: Connection Problem

If your mobile phone is at some distance from the Nespresso Essenza Plus, connection problems can interrupt the process of pairing.

Solution: Maintain Short Distance

To avoid any kind of interruption in connection, make sure to place the mobile near your Nespresso Essenza Plus and maintain a short distance to resolve the problem.

Cause 3: Field Interruption

If some electrical appliances, especially microwave ovens, are working near the Nespresso  Essenza Plus, the magnetic field generated by the appliance can cause an interruption in pairing.

Solution: Turn Off Other Devices

Turn off all devices other than Nespresso Essenza Plus to avoid any disturbance and for the proper pairing of your Nespresso Essenza Plus.

Problem 2: No Coffee, No Water Coming Out Of Nespresso Essenza Plus

You are using your Nespresso Essenza Plus, but nothing comes out of it, neither coffee nor water, right? I know a coffee lover can do nothing without getting his caffeine dose. It is quite a common issue among all Nespresso machines, and its solution is given here. Let’s dig deep!

Cause 1: Empty Water Tank

The water tank is lacking a sufficient amount of water. Thus your Nespresso Essenza Plus fails to uptake the water from the tank and fill your cup with coffee.

Solution: Refill The Water Tank

Refill the water tank with enough water (up to the MAX FILL line) to make the brewing process possible.

Cause 2: Air Bubbles

If you have run your machine with an empty water tank, then air bubbles may be developed between the water tank and the machine. These air bubbles can hinder the passage of water; thus, you will get no water or coffee.

Solution: Remove The Air Bubbles

These air bubbles can be removed by following my guidelines.

  1. Lift the lever up and down to remove the capsule.
  2. Fill the water tank.
  3. Make sure the water tank is properly positioned and connected to its base.
  4. Place a container under the coffee spout.
  5. Now, press the brew button multiple times (Espresso/Lungo) to start brewing/until water comes through the spout.
  6. Lift the lever and check the area where you place the pod; if there is steam or water, you may have resolved the problem.
  7. Once you see the steam or water in the pod holder, close the lever and run 4-5 brews.
  8. Possibly, the air will come out in the first dispense.
  9. However, after a second or third try, your brewer will sound normal and start working properly.
  10. Now, place the capsule and brew your favorite coffee!

Note: If your coffee maker has a big air bubble, then it will take a longer time to start dispensing. Therefore, continuously press the brew button until the water starts dispensing out of the coffee spout.

Cause 3: Build-up Of Calcareous Material

Being a very honest partner in making a cup of coffee, the Nespresso Essenza Plus informs you (by blinking)  to descale it to maintain your health. With the passage of time, the minerals in the water, such as calcium and magnesium, get accumulate in the brewer, leading to blockage.

Solution: Descale Your Nespresso Essenza Plus

Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus and let it show its best performance. The descaling process is also given below.

The process takes approximately 15 minutes( including the two rinsing processes). To descale the Nespresso Essenza Plus, the procedure is as follows;

  1. First of all, remove the capsule from the Nespresso Essenza Plus, if any.
  2. Fill half of the water tank with water (approx. 0.5 L) and add 1 sachet of descaling solution.
  3. Place a container under the coffee outlet.
  4. To enter the Nespresso Essenza Plus into the descaling mode, hold and press the Espresso, Lungo, and hot water buttons for at least 5 seconds while the machine is on.
  5. All these three buttons (Lungo, Espresso, and hot water buttons) will start blinking and will continue to blink until the completion of the descaling process.
  6. To start the descaling process, press the “Hot water button” and wait for the emptying of the water tank.
  7. Empty the container’s content into the sink.
  8. Rinse the water tank to make sure that there is no further descaling solution in it.
  9. Add fresh drinking water to the water tank.
  10. Place a container under the coffee outlet.
  11. To initiate water rinsing press, press the hot water button.
  12. The light on the button will keep blinking to indicate the ongoing process.
  13. Once the water tank is emptied, repeat steps 9,10, and 11 once.
  14. The brewer will turn off automatically after the process is completed.

Note: Descaling solution can be harmful, so avoid contact with eyes, skin, or other body parts.

Problem 3: Nespresso Essenza Plus Could Not Pump Water.

You switch on your Nespresso Essenza, waiting for the coffee dispensing, but nothing comes out. You try to brew hot water only, but the result is the same. How will you get your morning coffee dose? Don’t panic if your Nespresso Essenza Plus has become a hot air maker instead of a coffee maker, as below I have mentioned all the possible causes and their solutions. So, let’s get started!

Cause 1: Air Bubbles

When we let the water reservoirs run dry, air bubbles get a chance to exist and hence are developed. These air bubbles stop the water flow from the water tank to the brewing unit.  Let’s check its solution.

Solution: Remove The Air Bubbles

The process for the removal of these air bubbles is straightforward. To know the detail, see the section “Remove air bubbles” under “Problem 2 (Cause 2)”.

Cause 2: The Machine Is Clogged

If you are using hard water in your Nespresso, then the chances of mineral scales build-up are always there. So, if the pump is unable to pump the water, then maybe the water passage is clogged. Let’s resolve this issue!

Solution: Descale Nespresso

You must descale your Nespresso every 3-6 months for its proper working. To know the descaling process, see the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Let’s move towards the next problem the Nespresso Essenza owners mostly face.

Problem 4: Coffee Comes Out Very Slowly From Nespresso Essenza Plus.

I don’t actually pay attention to this issue while brewing coffee, but I can understand that when you are eagerly waiting for the coffee, it is difficult to pass a single minute. That’s why I am going to share the basic causes of this problem and their solutions with you. So, let’s do it!

Cause 1: Clogged Coffee Machine

With time, your coffee machine can get blocked due to the buildup of coffee ground residues, water minerals, and dirt. These buildups continue to grow and block the normal flow of water or coffee. Hence coffee is taking more time than usual. Let’s check out its solution!

Solution 1: Descale Your Coffee Maker

It is recommended to descale your machine every 3-6 months to ensure proper functioning. To know the descaling process in detail, see the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Solution 2: Clean The Nespressso Essenza Plus

Clean the Nespresso Essenza Plus properly. It is better to separate all the parts of it, like the drip tray, capsule container, water tank, etc., and wash and clean them appropriately. You should also perform the water cleaning cycle once.

Let’s discuss the cleaning procedure in detail!

  1. First, switch off and unplug your machine.
  2. Empty the drip tray and used capsule container (you must perform these steps every day).
  3. Now, remove the water reservoir.
  4. Wash all these detached parts with mild, odorless detergent and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  5. Now, dry these parts with a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel and assemble them again.
  6. Take a clean, damp cloth and clean the spout and inside the machine.

Note: Never immerse the machine or its parts in water or any other liquid.

Note: The machine is not dishwasher safe.

Cause 2: Using Finer Ground Coffee

In general, a finer grind coffee takes more time to extract than a coarse grind coffee. Thus, if the coffee you use to extract coffee is very finely ground, it will come out very slowly.

Solution: Use Medium/Coarse Ground Coffee

Use coarse (sea salt size) or medium-coarse (hard sand size) ground coffee to manage the extraction time.

Cause 3: Selection Of Wrong Capsule

If you are using a Lungo capsule to extract Espresso, then the extraction rate of coffee will be changed.

Solution: Use The Right Capsule

Thus, it is recommended to use a Lungo capsule for Lungo coffee extraction and similar for Espresso and other coffee types. You can see on the box that these coffee capsules are meant for which type of coffee extraction. So, carefully analyze, then use.

Cause 4: Incompatible Third-Party Capsules

Many third parties are also manufacturing coffee pods that are not compatible with your machine in terms of size and structure. Therefore, using these coffee pods can affect the coffee extraction time and flavor also. Let’s discuss its solution!

Solution: Use Original Nespresso Capsules

If you want your machine to deliver a perfect coffee cup under standard extraction time, then immediately switch to the original Nespresso capsules. You can buy these capsules from the Nespresso website, Amazon, and many other online stores.

Cause 5: Blocked Coffee Spout

If your coffee is coming out slowly after being extracted, then maybe the passage is blacked. Due to continuous contact of the coffee spout with water (especially hard water), mineral scales develop inside and cause blockage. Let’s resolve this issue!

Solution: Clean The Coffee Spout

  1. Take a paper clip and insert it inside the coffee spout. You can insert the paper clip about 5cm inside of it.
  2. So, pop it until you find the place where the coffee grounds have been stuck.
  3. Move the paper clip inside the coffee spout to loosen the grounds.

After this, run a water cleansing cycle without inserting the capsule, and the loose grounds will dispense with water.

Problem 5: The Capsule Area Is Leaking.

Every neat and clean thing presents itself much more beautifully than the dirty one. In the same way, the leaking Nespresso Essenza Plus is not that attractive. Furthermore, it also creates a mess for you, and simultaneously, the leak can also damage your machine and be dreadful for you if electrocution occurs. So, let’s resolve your problem immediately. Check out the most common causes for such issues and their solutions!

Cause 1: Improperly Placed Capsule

If the capsule is improperly placed in the holder, the lid can’t close properly, which leads to leakage. Let’s resolve the issue by following the trick mentioned below.

Solution: Replace The Capsule

Cause 2: Capsule Holder Is Clogged

The capsule holder can become clogged due to mineral deposits and coffee residuals. Thus, when it is clogged and water can’t enter or exit the pod holder, then it starts leaking in the capsule area.

Solution: Clean The Capsule Holder Area

Use a soft brush and gently clean the capsule holder area to remove the blockages. It is recommended to clean the pod holder periodically to ensure the proper working of your Nespresso.

Final Solution: Contact Nespresso Service

If you have tried all the methods to resolve the issue, but all is in vain; then the better option is to call Nespresso service (800-562-1465) or hire an experienced technician.

Let’s discuss the other common problem that occurs in the Nespresso Essenza Plus!

Problem 6: There Is No Light Indicator In My Nespresso Essenza Plus.

What if you are aware of the blinking issues with the coffee maker and their solutions, but the Nespresso Essenza Plus is not even showing any light on the coffee button? Don’t worry. Let me help you in this case. Just scroll down!

Cause 1: Damaged Outlet

The main cause is that your Nespresso Essenza Plus is not having an electric current from the electricity supply. The outlet that you have been using for your machine is not working now.

Solution: Plug Into Another Outlet

Try any other outlet, and now press the Lungo button to start the Nespresso Essenza Plus.

Cause 2: Damaged Power Cord

One of the reasons for this interruption includes the damaged power cord. If the power cord is damaged, then it can’t transfer power to your coffee maker properly, and it will not switch on.

Solution: Repair The Power Cord

Thoroughly analyze the wire to check the damaged site and repair it. This damage could be the result of placing any sharp instrument near the Nespresso Essenza Plus, which may cut the wire. It is better to cover that part with tape after checking. But if the wire is apparently not damaged, then you should call Nespresso customer service (800-562-1465).

Note: Before this, don’t forget to unplug the Nespresso Essenza Plus to protect yourself from any electrical shock.

Cause 3: Switch Is Not Connected Securely

Sometimes, it happened that you couldn’t properly plug the switch into a power outlet. Resultantly,  the voltage (electricity) couldn’t reach your Nespresso, and it remained off.

Solution: Plug In The Switch Again

First, remove the switch from the outlet and then re-plug it firmly so there develops a secure connection. Now, turn on your machine.

Cause 4: Improper Voltage

Your Nespresso requires a proper voltage to work, and if you are not fulfilling its requirement, then how can it turn on and work properly? An average voltage of 220-240V is required for Nespresso Essenza Plus to turn on. Therefore, your home should have a voltage supply of this range.

Solution: Adjust The Voltage

Ensure your home voltage supply is sufficient for your coffee machine. If not, then better to buy another coffee machine that can work in the current-voltage supply. Furthermore, you can contact Nespresso customer service to seek more solutions.

Cause 5: Coffee Maker’s Fuse Is Blown

There present a thermal fuse inside your coffee maker, which prevents it from overheating. If your coffee maker is not turning on, then the chances of a blown fuse are there. Let’s check out its solution!

Solution: Replace The Fuse

You can easily purchase a new thermal fuse from any online store; however, the replacement process is quite technical, so you have to hire an expert technician. If your coffee maker is still under warranty period, then contact Nespresso, and you will get free repair services (free replacement parts).

Problem 7: All 3 Beverage Buttons Blinking Fast In Nespresso Essenza Plus.

What do these blinking beverage buttons indicate? Obviously, being a coffee lover and user of Essenza Plus, you know very well that the Nespresso Essenza Plus indicates different processes by blinking the beverage buttons in different ways. But unusual blinking indicates the problem. So, let’s check out the main reason for this and its solution!

Cause 1: Error In The Nespresso

If your Nespresso Essenza Plus is blinking irregularly, then there may be an internal error. The error is unknown, so you have to check the entire machine.

Solution: Contact Nespresso

Checking the internal parts of your Nespresso is quite technical work; therefore, it is better to seek the help of an expert technician or contact Nespresso (800-562-1465).

Cause 2: Overheating

The Nespresso Essenza Plus is overheating, or it is placed in unsuitable temperatures like  0°C / 32°F.

Solution 1: Let The Nespresso Essenza Plus Cool Down

The Nespresso Essenza Plus cools down on its own, and you only have to wait for all these beverage buttons to stop blinking.

But, if the buttons don’t stop blinking, then Switch off and unplug your Nespresso Essenza Plus and let it cool down for some time and then plug it back in.

Note: During this process, the Nespresso Essenza Plus cannot be used for brewing.

Solution 2: Contact Nespresso Service

The last solution is to call Nespresso (800-562-1465) or seek the help of an experienced technician.

Problem 8: Descaling Alert Blinking (Descaling Alert Level 1).

Don’t you know why this LED is blinking? Don’t worry! Let’s discuss it! It is specifically a descaling alert in which the LED starts blinking in ready mode. The LED is present above the hot water button on the Nespresso Essenza Plus. The Nespresso Essnza Plus informs you about the need for descaling by this alert.

Cause: Needs Descaling

The Nespresso Essenza Plus is asking you to descale it. It is recommended to descale your machine every 3-6 months or after 300 coffee cups. As the limit has been exceeded, your coffee maker reminds you to perform descale.

Solution: Descale The Nespresso Essenza Plus

It is better to descale the Nespresso Essenza Plus just after the first alarm. However, you can use the Nespresso Essenza Plus until the second alert appears. Because after the second alert, you need to descale it as soon as possible. See the descaling process detail in the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Details of the second alert are also given below. Scroll down!

Problem 9: Descaling Alert Steady Light (Descaling Alert Level 2).

This is the second alarming alert in which the descaling light becomes still, and after this alert, you have to descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus as soon as possible. This is characterized by a steady LED light present behind the hot water button.

Cause: Need Descaling Urgently

At this stage, descaling has become mandatory for the further operation of your Nespresso Essenza Plus. And if you don’t descale it even at this stage, your machine will refuse to work.

Solution: Perform The Descaling Process Immediately

Without wasting any time, find this article’s descaling process and descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus accordingly. See the process in the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Problem 10: Why Are All 4 Buttons Blinking Alternatively (From Front To Back)?

Blinking beverage buttons indicates something, but what is that? I know it can be frustrating when you want to brew a delicious coffee cup for you, but your machine shows you strange blinking patterns. Let’s explore the fundamental reasons behind this blinking pattern and discuss their issues. Scroll down!

Cause: Firmware Updation

The four buttons are blinking because firmware updation is in progress.

Solution: Wait Until It’s Completed!

You have to wait for a few minutes until the completion of this update. After this, your Nespresso Essenza Plus will stop blinking and switch off.

Note: During updation time, the machine cannot be used.

Problem 11: No Coffee, Just Water Runs Out (Despite Inserted Capsule).

Despite inserting a capsule in its place, your Nespresso Essenza Plus only fills your cup with water instead of coffee. How can you fulfill your coffee need now? Ugh! Don’t panic, as I have enlisted the most common cause behind this problem and their solutions too. So, scroll down and get to know all!

Cause 1: Improperly Placed Capsule

No matter,  If you have placed the capsule in the pod holder but it is not appropriately placed, your Nespresso Essenza Plus will fail to pierce it, and hence no coffee will be obtained.

Solution: Position The Capsule Properly

It is better to take out the previous capsule and replace it (if it is not pierced; otherwise, use an unused or new capsule). The foil side should be towards the front of the machine.

In case the problem persists, call Nespresso (800-562-1465).

Cause 2: Empty / Mispositioned Water Tank

If there is not enough water in the tank, how could anything come out of the spout? Furthermore, if the water tank is not properly positioned on the base, your coffee machine can’t get water for brewing. Let’s check their solutions!

Solution: Fill / Re-Place Water Tank

First of all, check whether the water tank has enough water, and if not, then refill it with fresh water up to the MAX FILL line and adjust it properly on the base. If you see the water tank is full but still nothing is coming out, remove it from the base and replace it again properly.

Cause 3: Clogged Coffee Spout

If you observe nothing coming out of the coffee spout, then maybe the coffee spout is blocked. As the coffee spout has continuous contact with the water and coffee, it causes mineral build-ups, and coffee residuals inside lead to blockage. Let’s resolve the issue!

Solution: Unclog The Coffee Spout

It’s time to clean the coffee spout and to see the process details; check the section “Clean The Coffee Spout” under “Problem 4 (Cause 5)”.

Cause 4: Mineral Build-Up In Nespresso

If you haven’t descale your machine for months, then water mineral build-ups and coffee oil residuals have definitely occupied a huge space that it doesn’t even allow coffee/water to pass through. Let’s resolve the issue!

Solution: Descale The Nespress Essenza Plus

So, ita time to descale your Nespresso and to know the process details; see the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Problem 12: Why Does My Nespresso Essenza Machine Keep Stopping?

Does your Nespresso Essenza Plus keep stopping, and do you want to know the solution? Let’s explore the most common causes of this problem and also discuss their solutions!

Cause 1: Descaling Is Required

When the Nespresso Essenza Plus gives you a second descaling alert, and you still do not perform it, then it may stop working to force you to do it right now.

Solution: Descale The Nespressso Essenza Plus

Obviously, its solution is to perform a descaling process, and to know the process detail see the section “Descale Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cuase 3)”.

Cause 2: Gunked-up Coffee Maker

Everything shows the performance when it is in good form. So if you clean your Nespresso Essenza Plus regularly, it’s okay! Otherwise, it will be gunked up and will refuse to prepare coffee for you.

Solution: Clean The Nespresso Essenza Plus

Try to maintain the cleanliness of your Nespresso Essenza Plus by cleaning it at least once a day or whenever required. See the cleaning process details in the section “Clean The Nespresso Essenza Plus” under  “Problem 4 (Cause 2)”.

Cause 3: Improperly Placed Capsule

It is one of the most common reasons and really disturbs the normal functioning of your Nespresso Essenza Plus. Let’s resolve this issue!

Solution: Replace The Capsule

Take out the capsule, and after ensuring its right position (foil side towards the machine’s font), replace the capsule so that the Nespresso Essenza Plus can pierce it properly and you can get a tasty coffee.

Cause 4: Poured Milk In Water Tank

The water tank is just for storing the water, not the milk. So, if you mistakenly pour the milk into the water tank, the machine, and water tank valve can get gunked up, and the machine will stop working. To resolve the issue read the following solution!

Solution: Descale The Machine Many Times

If you have used the milk, and now your Nespresso Essenza Plus is not working, descale it many times. For the descaling process detail, see the section “Descale Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Problem 13: Why Coffee Is Not Hot Enough, Or The Nespresso Essenza Plus Is Not Heating?

Coffee gives its best taste when it is hot; however, it is up to people’s taste. But what is happening? Your Nespresso is not heating up or producing a hot coffee cup. It can be frustrating for a hot coffee lover. So, If you are looking for a hot coffee, let’s shake hands and help our Nespresso Essenza Plus make a hot cup of coffee by making some changes to it. Scroll down!

Cause 1: Insufficient Pressure Inside  Machine

The pressure inside your Nespresso Essenza Plus is not appropriate. Hence it fails to make a hot cup of coffee.

Solution: Brew Some Cups With Water Only

You only have to brew some cups with water only (Don’t insert a coffee capsule). It is a kind of cleaning process, but this will help you maintain the inside pressure. Try it twice or more until you succeed.

Cause 2: Descaling Is Required

Your Nespresso Essenza Plus is not working properly because residues have built up on the heating element, so the machine needs descaling.

Solution: Descale The Coffee Maker

See the descaling process detail in the section “Descale your Nespresso Essenza Plus” under “Problem 2 (Cause 3)”.

Cause 3: Coffee Cup Is Cold

If your coffee machine is pouring hot coffee, but when you sip it, the coffee is just lukewarm. So, if you are facing this issue, the coffee cup you are using is too cold that it can cool down the temperature of your coffee too.

Solution: Preheat The Coffee Cup

So, you can resolve this issue by preheating your coffee cup. There are two ways of pre-heating the cup;

  • Add hot water to the coffee cup and allow it to stand for some time, then empty the cup and pour coffee into it.
  • Pour water into the coffee cup and put it in the microwave for a few seconds. Empty the water and pour coffee into it.

Conclusion

Despite high-quality material and excellent manufacturing, an electronic machine can malfunction. However, before rushing toward the technician, why not try it yourself? Furthermore, you can avoid many problems by maintaining the cleaning of your coffee maker. Therefore, cleaning and descaling your coffee maker once a week and every 3-6 months is recommended, respectively.

However, if you don’t want to invest your time in troubleshooting and repairing your coffee maker, then better to contact Nespresso Customer Service.

Have a good day!
